Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actress singer and former model. She is known for co-starring in the film of Prince's Purple Rain and for having been the lead singer of the group of girls Apollonia 6. Apollonia was given the title of an actress and female singer by Prince. In the '80s she was among many other artists that benefited from Prince. Patricia Kotero began her acting and modeling career in Santa Monica California, in the latter part of the 1970s. She also appeared on CHiPS. The year 1984 saw her chosen to play the lead female in the film Prince's Purple Rain. During that time he changed his name. She also replaced Vanity and the duo Vanity 6 in the film. They performed together on the movie under the name Apollonia 6 Her performance had more impact on the charts as Prince's mate in Take Me with You, which was a duet in the soundtrack. Kotero's association with Prince was ended after the two had an argument over the direction she was taking in her career. Apollonia 6, the organization she was a part of was ended up splitting. She was later seen in several minor films during the period (reportedly not wanting to be on The Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) prior to landing an appearance on the evening-time television drama Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia released her first album in 1988, but it was a fairly pedestrian mix of dance and R&B music which did not draw attention from the public. The album was quickly wiped from view. During the following decade, Apollonia continued to perform as an actress (if a little unnoticed) as well as a couple of TV roles, movies and even an exercise film. Apollonia's album Stay With Me came out in 1997. After that, she attended college and received an education in filmmaking. Then, she started her own production company. Apollonia is an incredibly talented woman. A former model, actress and singer and talent manager. The role she played as an actor in the 1984 film Purple Rain made her a famous star.
