Salma Hayek was a big hit in Hollywood after she was offered the role in Robert Rodriguez's Desperado. Her Oscar nominated part in Frida made her rise to the top of Hollywood. Hayek was also involved with television as director of Ugly Betty and other hit series. Salma Hayek Jimenez began her life on 2 September 1966. She was the daughter of a Spanish mother and Lebanese father, she was raised in a well-off Catholic family. Hayek was raised in an orthodox Catholic household, attended Louisiana's convent at 12 years old and spent her teenage years in Houston, Texas with her Aunt. She dropped out of a Mexico City university after a short time to pursue acting. She became an actor in Mexican telenovelas. Her first roles in films Hayek wanted to perfect her English in Los Angeles and achieve Hollywood stardom. She moved to Los Angeles in 1991. to the city. Her roles were limited prior to landing a lead role in the 1995 film Desperado with Antonio Banderas.
