Catherine Ford was born Bloomsbury in London. Because her father's departure, the Ford family was managed by her grandmother, mom, and godparents. She suffered from an anxiety disorder caused by words as a young child. Ford was interested in acting during her teenage years and joined the National Youth Theatre. After being admitted to Sylvia Young Theatre School for a short time however, Ford realised that it wasn't the ideal location for her. Ford applied again to Central School of Speech and Drama and on her fourth attempt she was eventually admitted. Shaun Dingwall played Pete Tyler in Doctor Who. Ford earned her bachelor's degree in 1993. However, prior to that, Ford made a television debut when she appeared as a character in Surgical Spirit in an episode in 1990. Ford took the professional name Catherine Tate. Tate was featured in such TV shows such as The Bill, Men Behaving Badly as well as London Burning. She worked on stage regularly as well as a part of The Royal Shakespeare Company's season 2000-2001. Tate's stand-up humor and humour, which she added to her set in 1996, soon gained her admiration.
